The Value Of My Vintage Concertina

Recommended Posts

I have a vintage concertina which has been in my family for at least 50 years.

I don't know where it came from before that. A tag inside the case says "Georgi & Vitak Music House, Chicago, Ill. I don't play myself but I would

like to determine the value of my concertina and I'd appreciate it if anyone

could steer me in the right direction.

The instrument is a "Majestic". I thought that it was mahogany but a

woodworker I showed it to says it's walnut with a red stain. The bellows is

in perfect condition and made with a beautiful purple patterned material.

I've taken it to three jewelry stores who believe that all or at least most of

the trim is made of sterling silver. The 38 buttons (76 keys) all have pearl

tips and all are in good working order except one which works only

intermittantly. It's in fabulous condition and I have several pictures if they would be of any help.

Thanks, Brian

It sounds like you have a Chemnitzer concertina. I think it would help for you to review this thread, started by someone else who has one.

We're always glad to see pictures. :)
