Geoff Wooff
I'm generally a confirmed Wheatstone player but after a happy encounter with a fine Lachenal last year I decided to aquire one. The restoration is now complete and I am 'playing-in' the new bellows and enjoying the tonal differences between it and my usual instruments. One thing I have noticed, and it might just be me, that this Lachenal has the real Silver tipped buttons which are fairly standard on many models but I'm finding them slightly sticky in comparison to the Nickel silver buttons on Wheatstones. Has anyone else noticed this ? It might just be that the Silver being a slightly softer metal tends to create more friction with my fingertips... What d'you think ? Geoff. Wolf Molkentin
My Excelsior has nickel silver tipped buttons AFAIK, however I don't experience this issue. Best wishes - Wolf
