Iain
Hi all, my mother bought this Lachenal 48 key English treble concertina (440 wood ends, 5 folds, metal button) from Hobgoblin Music in Birmingham many years ago (10?) for a little under £1000. She realised her ambition of learning to play it, then passed it on to me many years later. I too got a few tunes out of it, (my "best" effort in the link below) but then I realised I'd have to actually put some work into it to get good so gave up and much later decided to sell it. Hobgoblin Music checked it over and valued it at £1200 and put it on sale in the London shop (Item ID: SORLO14995). They assured me it would sell in time, and advised against lowering the price, but I need the cash so have removed it, and am now advertising it privately hoping for a quick sale at £950 + around £10 for signed/tracked delivery (and I will of course make a contribution to the site here) Since purchase, it's been carefully stored in my home and my parents' home, both smoke free and pet free environments, and of course it was carefully displayed in the shop, in a locked glass cabinet. I've put lots of images of it on my blog (link below) and also made a short video of it (also below.) I'm not knowledgeable about these instruments, so can only go on what Hobgoblin said, which is that it is a very good instrument without any issues. I've checked that all the notes play and given it a good visual inspection but please ask if there's anything more I can tell you or investigate. I live in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, but regularly go down to Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and across to Rugby, Warwickshire so if you wish to inspect the instrument, you are welcome to come here, or I can arrange to meet anywhere in a reasonable "corridor" along the A1 or A14! Best wishes, Iain Petrie Images: https://fouragesofsand.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/english-concertina.html Video: https://youtu.be/YsOSIfCtgno My best...(back in 2012) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h6SVXkOqJA
Iain
£200 price drop! I've just put it on ebay at a reduced price of £850, but with fees I'll only clear £750, so I'd rather sell here and make a contribution to the forum. So.. now £750 here, plus postage. Thanks for looking, Iain
Iain
Now SOLD, thank you. What a great resource here! I'll be making the appropriate contribution to the site. Funny, I was pleased not to have to pay fees to ebay, now ebay tells me there's a fee to pay for ending the listing, even though it was up there for less than 24 hours... Iain
Correction: as I ended the ebay listing in less than 24 hours (2 hours to spare) there's no fee. It's a good day! Iain
