Wes Williams Concertina Dating Page Unavailable

There used to be a good web page on dating concertinas, particularly non-Wheatstone ones, that was done by Wes Williams, and was resident on Concertina.net.
It went away with a lot of useful other pages a couple of years ago. However it is still referenced from various places, including the Concertina FAQ (http://www.concertina.info/tina.faq/conc-ap1.htm).

Us cognoscenti who knew of its existence can still find it on the Wayback machine (Internet Archive) - see this example.

However Google searches won't find this, so newbies are missing out. Is there any hope of it being rehosted on Concertina.net?

I should let Paul explain this more fully, but he told me he was getting a lot of complaints about some sections being completely out of date (the buyer's guide and many of the reviews in particular). He removed the links to the old, static pages. Most of the pages are still in existence. I'm interested in porting some of them over here, but a major book-writing project at work has been eating all my time the last several years. It's nearly done I hope.

The old page here was not Wes's latest results. Those (at least for Lachenals) are in a post in a thread here; one of our search wonks can probably find it.

The part on the minor makers had already been updated - see here - and is now well over ten years old, so also out of date. The page originally on site here was written in 2001, and we've moved on considerably since then, for example the Wheatstone ledgers have been published and transcribed and there is an index here, as well as much more on that site, and I've also added software related to the ledgers on my site, which you can use to get some idea of instruments not in the ledgers.

So Paul's removal of the page was well justified, as almost all of it was out of date. As Ken said above, I published some new estimates for Lachenal anglo dates based on dealer/repairer markings and addresses from Randall Merris's ?2005? or ?2007? database a good while ago, which was just a different way of looking at the same question. The only data not currently on the web was some predictions on Lachenal English and Duet dates based on Geoff Wooff's idea of using simple formulae. And while the English dates suggested seemed to give reasonable results, both Randy and I have decided (independently!) that the duets were initially numbered in two sets of series which joined later, so that data is out of date.

I did consider reposting the page on my website when it disappeared from here, but it was so outdated I decided not to. My main research now concentrates on recordings, so maybe its time for new blood to take on this task. A new page on my website could be made available if anybody wants to volunteer :)

Is there a copy of RMs estimates anywhere? I know it's very anorak-ish, but I like to

'know' how old my instruments are - having more than one way of estimating the age

and then being able to 'worry' about it, is an anoraks dream come true :) ...

I thought I had a copy, but can't now find it - neither can I locate it on the internet (I tried

on the archive machine and failed miserably).

Thank you.

Roger

PS: apologies if I have already posted this query - simply can't remember...

He put some recent estimates up here. Post number 15 in the thread.

That's it! Thank you! I had mis-remembered the details and had been looking for

an article rather than a post. I even contributed (in a small way) to that thread.

Thanks again.
