DavidFR
This past Sunday I was up in Concord visiting the Minute Man National Historic Park with my girlfriend, when lo and behold I see a concertina player playing under a tent with a whole big band of instruments. Seemed like old-timey stuff, though I'd be hard-pressed to say exactly what it was. He was playing what looked like a wood-ended, metal-buttoned instrument; unfortunately we saw this as we were leaving and had to catch a bus. So I didn't get a chance to talk to him. Anyone have a clue as to who the man in this random concertina-sighting could be? You come across players in the strangest places.
Mark Evans
David, it could well be the Contra Dance band Roaring Jelly. They practice in Concord and I know for sure they have a fellow in the band who owns a Lachenal Edeophone 56 note. I met him once at a bluegrass jam in Groton and we got to talking concertinas. Might be him. He was playing stand up bass that night. Edited August 11, 2006 by Mark Evans
