Concertina sessions @ Folkstation Festival, July

Recommended Posts

Spare Parts Concertina Band will be running at least one and possibly more part-playing sessions at the Folkstation Festival, Isle of Wight, UK, from 9-11 July. Bryan Creer has put the music we'll be using on the band website at http://www.sparepartsband.co.uk/SPTunes.php in pdf, midi and Noteworthy Composer form. These are three-part arrangements of traditional tunes. If you'd rather have the music sent by post, please email me on valmaigoodyear[at]aol[dot]com.

The Festival website is http://www.folkstation.co.uk/. There are some excellent acts booked.

Aha - we've just had our riding orders and are doing two of these sessions. In the first we'll do our three-part arrangements of The Speaking Figure (William Winter collection)Souhrepps Hornpipe ( Albert Hewitt, Suffolk) and Foul Weather Call (Sussex Tune Book). In the second we'll do Lord Nelson's Waltz (Joshua Jackson) Galloway Girth (Sussex Tune Book) and Galopede (everywhere).

Thanks, I've downloaded the tunes from the link on the Mudcat site, now to try getting a couple of them 'under my belt'. The playing isn't what it was, having not done much for a couple of years, but I used to do a fair number of Playford tunes (and the odd tango) so with practice things should be passable.

Cheers Ann
