Thank you all for your insights.

I got one from ebay and that was exactly the same to Ken's Bastari.

I replaced button sleeves with 3x6 silicone tube as Geo Salley suggested in his article.

The result was not so bad but some buttons, especially which has longer lever, tend to stick in.

Anyway I enjoyed repair job. If I could make the new set of buttons, the replacement would be the next step.

These models would be good candidates for the button system like that shown by Bob Tedrow some years ago. He mounted metal sleeves on the end and had delrin buttons in the sleeves, flared on the inner end to keep them in place, that pushed against the lever. He took down the photo essay some years ago but gave permission in an old thread for folks to use the method...sounds like one for the list to hunt through old web pages on one of the web archive sites.

Very good! Note that using brass (I forgot that was his original method) can add appreciable weight (fine for some folks, others don't prefer it), so you can use delrin instead (comes in long rods you can cut, work, etc.).
