Daniel Hersh
It's at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Rosewood-CONCERTINA-Accordian-w-Original-Wood-Box-19th-Cent-/252234216662. I'm not even sure whether it was made in England or Germany, though I think I'd say it's German if I had to guess.
Stephen Chambers
I'd reckon it was made in England and it's a rather odd early Anglo, either by Nickolds or Jones.
Takayuki YAGI
My guess is English. The fretwork is very much looks like Stephen's Nicholds (photo [17]) but button layout is quite odd. Air lever shape, chamfered ends and end bolt shape looks like early Jones in the same page (photo [19]). And side vent reminds me of this photo of early Jones from Stephen. If anyone here (not me ) win this auction I would like to see the note layout and inside photo. Very interesting one. -- Taka edited for typo. Daniel Hersh
Thanks, Stephen and Taka! What you say makes a lot of sense. I too am very curious about the note layout and not curious enough to buy it to find out
Daniel Hersh
In the Q & A: "Q: Good evening, Could I call you about this concertina? Regards, NeilA: yes, the phone # is 215-439-3335"
nkgibbs
Daniel, That was me asking for information and particularly whether this odd 'Anglo' concertina had a couple of elusive, red buttons (see post #12ff in this thread). I didn't buy the concertina. Best wishes, Neil
Stephen Chambers
That was me asking for information and particularly whether this odd 'Anglo' concertina had a couple of elusive, red buttons (see post #12ff in this thread). It appeared to me to have many similarities with the instrument in my photo (in that thread and here, below), including posessing both red C buttons and black accidental ones. I'd reckon they were probably made by the same maker, around the same time...
