Kautilya
Does anyone know any good session pubs? anyone going? MSW I am sure u have seen this but for others whom u are inciting to musical violence it could be of use for leads so they don't have to fret or frit!? e.g. "Market Hall : space for an informal musicians’ session on Friday night and if you want some nooky then this is clearly the place to head for: "The inside of the Nook will be available for sessions all the weekend with artists programmed to play outside on Friday and Saturday night and Saturday and Sunday afternoon. If you want to follow like sheep to the slaughter or storm the castle on an elephant this looks good: "The Elephant and Castle is available all weekend for anyone who wants to go and sing or play and you are quite likely to find George Clarke (aka Tyke on Mudcat) and friends in residence who will be trying again to drink the pub dry – it succeeded last year! The Shoulder of Mutton is also available and some of the festival guests are quite likely to drop in and perform. Could be within striking distance so sounds worth trying to drop by..... http://holmfirthfestivaloffolk.co.uk/events/sessions.html http://holmfirthfestivaloffolk.co.uk/venues.html Edited April 27, 2010 by Kautilya
michael sam wild
Thanks, that info wasn't up the other day as far as I could find. Just off May 7 it's cold and damp! Edited May 8, 2010 by michael sam wild
michael sam wild
Nice festival , glad it has carried on, it is a lovely town and a nice friendly low key event, mainly put on by locals and businesses. Abit cold but very nice weather generally , two good Irish sessions in The Postcard pub , about 6 hours non stop each time! Only met one other anglo player and one EC player but quite a few banjo players and fast reels. Looking forward to Swaledale squeeze next weekend Edited May 10, 2010 by michael sam wild
