I can't let this month's Theme slip away without having a go at "Elsie Marley."

The quintessential English ceilidh tune! Thanks.

And a great song too, hinny. Nifty playing.

A couple more for me on Crane before the month is out:

I had to play Sussex Cotillion recently at a historic dance workshop. New to me though I gather it's not uncommon in sessions. Rather slower here than was required for the dancing.

Some would argue that Bodmin isn't in England, especially when considering such customs as the Bodmin Riding March, but here it is, played in the key of C for Cornwall. :)

Very nice, indeed, Chas.

I wanted to try and get something in for this month.

Beyond traditional but definitely English.

Two tunes by Northumbrian Piper, Archie Dagg; Swindon and Elsey's Waltz

Swindon was written as a slow air but also makes and excellent waltz so the two go together well as a waltz set. However I've played Swindon as a slow air then took the tempo up a bit for Elsey's Waltz.

Melody only as I was working on something else for another forum at the same time

Very pretty tunes; haven't heard them before.

Sorry for resurrecting an older thread, but I was looking for somewhere relevant to post the first recording I've made on my new Maccann duet :)

I've recently replaced my Anglo with this lovely Bb Maccann, and I'm completely in love with the sound of it. I've sorta got the hang of playing in F so far (G on a normal one). Some of the chord shapes are a bit awkward in the sharper keys!

Here's a lovely tune by Chris Wood; Elizabeth Clare: https://soundcloud.com/robotmay/elizabeth-clare

Gorgeous and well worth waiting for. Your love of the instrument comes through in the playing.

Thanks! It has such a mellow sound, and it helps that F and Bb are my favourite keys, as they're the easiest ones to play in on it :D

I'm trying to learn a couple of hornpipes on it at the moment but I haven't got the hang of playing an accompaniment at that speed yet!

Thanks for the reminder that it's never too late to add a tune to Theme of the Month or Tune of the Month threads!

That' a really nice sounding instrument. And really nice playing.

Beautiful, I'm so pleased it went to such a deserving and talented owner. Looking forward to hearing more.
