Automatic Log On

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is anyone else having trouble with this feature ?

Despite having 'cookies enabled' and the tick in the automatically log me on box,

I find I am now having to log on each session.

Is there a system problem?

Does the server not share my views?

Do I have to 'blame ' my son for screwing up my system (it's never Me!!)

Come to mention it, the whole system seems to be running at somewhat less than half speed today.

Regards

Dave

Try logging out, then back in. I don't expect that it should help, but I think logging out should delete some settings, which would then be set fresh the next time you log in. I've seen other systems get into a state where one part thinks you're "in" and another thinks you're "out". In any case, it's little time lost if it doesn't work.

Good luck.

  • 4 weeks later...

Once again, I'm not aware of any general problems, and I'm not having any (I'm still on a slow line and a borrowed computer, as my new one is away for warranty repair - sad face here). Local settings are nearly always suspect. I'm a Mac wonk (this is one of the reasons) so likely can't help you. Keep fooling around with the cookies.

Hi All,

Nothing I tried in settings seemed top do any good at all but, if it is any consolation, my problems resolved themselves a couple of weeks later probably when re-booting after a crash.

My machine is on 24/7 because of another problem. It takes 45 minutes to re-boot !!

Don't know what that problem is. Gets halfway through boot up then freezes for 45 mins then carries on as though nothing has happened!!. Been like that 12 months now

One day I'll get round to sorting it.....now where did I put my concertina? :)

Does it make any noise during the freeze? E.g., is there a lot of hard disk activity?

What about transmission activity? Can you see whether it's transmitting and receiving stuff? Do you have a broadband connection, or something else (ISDN? plain modem?)?

Are you using Windows? What sort of activity does your Event Viewer show, if any?
