  1. Thanks Les. I have contacted Chris and am looking forward to being like a kiddie in a lolly shop Dave.
  2. SOLD and contribution made to c.net. thanks again to the C.net community. I may not post much but watch a lot and this really is an invaluable forum in the larger sense of the word. Cheers, Dave.
  3. Hi. me again. I am looking for a connie in the UK as I will be there April 9. I would rather not take the beautiful circa mid 1800s Wheatstone 48 key treble English I bought from Greg Jowaisas in 2012 (I think) on the aereoplane. Thanks again Greg for a wonderful instrument and case!! I desire a wooden ended 48 key, must be ready to play and I have a budget of around GBP1000. I have looked but cannot find ... Does anyone know where I could find such an instrument in 2 weeks? Cheers, Dave.
  4. Thanks John and Rikki. That's good to know ... I think when I left the UK it was 14% VAT I now have more people asking than I can accommodate so unless it all goes horribly wrong the Morse is no longer on the market ... Which leads me to my wanted post that will be forthcoming... Thank you very much.
  5. I hope this works ... http://s1302.photobucket.com/user/Dave_McBadger/embed/slideshow/Morse%20Baritone%20For%20Sale Cheers, Dave.
  6. I am selling my Morse Albion Baritone Number 210 <edited - I had incorrectly said 202>. The instrument is in Very good condition in original hard case in Brisbane Australia. $1500 + shipping ono. I will attach pictures and sound file by the end of the week. Obviously any locals are welcome to come and have a play and if sold on c.net donation will be made. Cheers, Dave.
  7. Sorry if this is a silly question, but are the thin rods that extend out above the thumb straps a standard thing or a modification? (I am assuming they are to stop the thumb protruding too far through the strap) Cheers, Dave.
  8. Thanks Rod for the speedy send - and thanks to the usps - the box arrived in Oz yesterday morning ... now i have to wait for a letter from the customs people that will give me a link to a webpage to print out the forms to fill in to send back to them and then they can reply by mail telling me how much i have to pay (jeez guys, GST is 10%!! - I can do the math) and then i can pay them and then they release the box to be sent to me - so next friday at the earliest I reckon - week monday or tuesday realistically I really loathe the Australian customs / postal services who seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful. I have called and they seem to have a standard unhelpful answer... Oh well at least I have my beautiful sounding melodeon (thanks Malcolm) to play in the meantime ...
  9. Yeah I've heard he's a very nice chap Got any pics of the Crabb?
  10. Thank you for all the replies. I think i will seek an instrument inside australia as i resent paying the government anything. and the majority i think of the replies read like the govt website - if it's declared as over AU$1000 then it gets an import duty and then GST applied in top of that unless for some reason you are lucky ... which leads to i f anyone has a Morse Albion for sale in Australia ..... Thanks again for the replies.
  11. Apologies if this is in the wrong place. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in import duty on a box say, from the US. looking at the australian customs website it seems anything imported from OS over AU$1000 is subject to a hefty wadge of import duty. I got cunfuddled looking at all the possibilities but someone at work told me that if it was a second hand item then it's not subject to import tax - is anyone able to confirm this as a truth or a furfy? Cheers, Dave.
  12. Thanks for that - sorry - i had accordion where i meant to have concertina in the original post ... I may let this one go and have a try at getting hold of a borrowd english and and anglo first - being a melodion player everyone says go the anglo but being a singer if i can get my head around learning to play the english i think it would be good to be able to hold a nice long note without having to worry about running out of bellows - time will tell. Thank you again.
  13. Hello. I was wondering if this looks like a good instrument for a learner... I am a total newbie to concertinas - I play D/G melodeon but it seems that the world of connie buying and selling is fraught with danger. I want to buy an concertina for english / australian folk singing accompaniment and was wondering if this might be the sort of instrument that was good for me as a beginner and as the price looks reasonable am just wondering if it is ... bearing in mind i will have to pay a truckload in shipping costs... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Gremlin-48-key-Engl...bayphotohosting please let me know if this is not the correct forum for this question. Dave.
