Stone Roses Cover -- Elizabeth My Dear

Recommended Posts

This is an attempt to come up with an arrangement in the style of Philip Glass, inpired by his "Songs from Liquid Days" which I've performed on piano with a couple of singers over the years.

"Elizabeth My Dear" was the Stone Roses' appropriation of the famous Scarborough Fair tune for their own nefarious purposes. Monarchists may find this upsetting. :o :)

Thank you both -- much appreciated.

There's probably more scope for using some of Glass's "signature" cross-rhythms, like constant triplet quavers across straight quavers, or the 3/4 rhythms in which he groups semiquavers in blocks of three against quavers, giving a four-against-three effect.
