David Levine
Isn't this another form of city mouse v country mouse? There's a place for fast music and a place for slow music. Sometimes it's (tempo) age-related and sometimes it's skill-related. Just as it doesn't have to be fast to be lively, it isn't always dull if it's slow. But is isn't necessarily better if it's slow - or worse if it's fast. ....at least that's how I think of it. We old farts sitting on the sidelines complaining about the tempo are just the flip-side of the kids who are whipping it up.
michael sam wild
A mate told me years ago that somebody once asked Finbar Fury why he played the pipes so fast. He replied,'Because I can!'
