Opinions On Triple Reeds

Recommended Posts

hey thinking of buying the C-3 stagi.

what are your opinions on a triple reed? I have the stagi C-2 (double reed)

is it going to sound too.... muddy or something?

Quick edit: Is this the only triple reed on the market?

Try before you buy. The only way to know if you like the sound. Personally, I feel three is two too many. i couldn't in good conscience recommend anything with the name Stagi on it. They can be sweet sounding, but are built with such inferior materials, they just don't hold up. If you don't play it a lot, it will last a while.

I personally agree and for me, a proper concertina is a single-reeded concertina.

In my case, if I want to play three reeds, the melodeon or button accordion is the way to go. It's an easier instrument to play, and you can get small ones, if size is a problem.

I only want to play the concertina because of the special tone of the concertina, and three-reeded German or Italian ones don't have it. In fact, my Castagnari Giordy or Lilly sound more like a concertina, than a two or three-reeded concertina. To me, anyway.
