Midlands Concertina Group (Report And Videos)

Midlands Concertina Group meets twice a year in Nottingham. UK. Yesterday's meeting was at a church hall in Wollaton. The next one will be 10th November in Arnold.

 

Yesterday, we had about 18-20 people during the afternoon, with some leaving early and others arriving late.

 

I counted 3 baritone Anglos, a Hayden duet and a Crane duet, a miniature Anglo, and a selection of more conventional Anglos and English. Some members brought 3 or 4 boxes, so I guess there were probably 40 or more instruments in the room.

 

Music played included English folk in the harmonic style, Irish traditional in the single note/melodic style, church music, a Sousa march, and various music hall style songs. We also had a short display of English step clog dancing.

 

There was at least one first timer present, and a couple of people were there for the second time. Others were mainly regulars from the last few years, right back to the early 1980s.
