Witney Supersqueeze

Recommended Posts

There's a discussion taking place on melodeon.net about an announcement by Dave Townsend that the separate Melodeons, Concertinas and Accordions at Witney events are to be combined into a single 'supersqueeze' weekend.

http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php/topic,20608.0/topicseen.html

I've not seen any mention of it here so I thought I'd draw it to the attention of this community.

So, is this a good thing or not? So far I've not managed to attend either Concertinas or Melodeons at Witney, and on the face of it this seems less attractive to me than the more focussed events. However full details of the weekend have yet to be published so perhaps one shouldn't pre-judge.

This is from a recent post on Facebook:

WITNEY SUPERSQUEEZE 10 - 12 November 2017
A new Weekend Music Course for
Concertinas, Melodeons and Accordions
This new event will take place at Henry Box School, Witney, nr. Oxford,
What’s New?
It’s a larger-scale weekend replacing Concertinas at Witney, Melodeons at Witney and Accordions at Witney. Some course units will be for specific instruments, some will be for any squeezebox, and there will be band and ensemble options as well.
What’s Old?
Like the former Hands On Music Weekends, it will follow the same structure of course units, working with different tutors, and a concert with them on Saturday night. Music will be available a few weeks beforehand. And as always there will be top-rated tutors, some familiar faces and some less-known, all with an established track record in teaching and inspiring.
The weekend is non-residential, and is for adults who can already play their instrument.
More details soon - contact Dave Townsend on dtmellstock@aol.com

I am thinking the time of year will be less attractive for myself. I would want to see the detailed programme before making a decision.

- John Wild.

When can I book?
The new website is still under construction. We’re hoping to open bookings in about four weeks’ time.

It is now possible to book via the Online Booking Form although details of the courses are not yet completely finalised.

Apparently Course places will be allocated on a 'first come first served basis' so it could be worth booking early given the appealing list of tutors. There is a refund offer if Course choice is not available. All explained on the booking form.
